 History

A Taste of Buffalo created a niche in the Alamogordo restaurant market when we opened our doors in August of 2005, bringing a few east coast flavors and personal hands-on management to the forefront. In a town the size of Alamogordo, buffalo style chicken wings were considered just an appetizer being offered by just two nationally recognized chain restaurants. So, A Taste of Buffalo fast became very popular among the military men and women stationed at Holloman Air Force Base, just 11 miles west of the Alamogordo township. Catering to the nation’s elite war fighters came like second nature to owners Brian & Cynthia Harris, since Brian or Technical Sergeant Harris (Ret.) spent the last 20 years feeding the troops as a food service production manager in the United States Air Force. After honorably retiring from active duty service, Brian jumped in full-time alongside his wife, Cynthia to help out in running the 1200 sq. ft. operation. The project began as a simple way for the areas patrons to enjoy great tasting foods that Brian & Cynthia grew up enjoying in Buffalo, New York. Growing up on the cities eastside, Brian and Cynthia both learned to appreciate the great flavor of food from diverse backgrounds.

The startup process began years before their 2005 opening. The couple started out buying second hand restaurant equipment while traveling the U.S. and saving thousands on startup costs. Occupying a small storefront, the couple renovated the space to a comfortable, quaint dining atmosphere along with meeting health and safety codes. All supplies and materials were purchased with their personal savings and donations from family and friends.

With the anticipated grand opening fast approaching, Brian and Cynthia felt that cooking experience alone and great recipes were not enough to ensure the restaurants success. Teaming up with El Paso based entrepreneur and business coach, Dr. Mikel A. Brown, and his wife Debra, seemed to be the perfect solution for the restaurants future growth and success. In the summer of 2007, the team officially formed A Taste of Buffalo, LLC. As A Taste of Buffalo, LLC continues to expand throughout the state of New Mexico; it is gratifying to see how excited customers are that A Taste of Buffalo is opening a new restaurant in their busiest shopping area.
